Heads come in many shapes and sizes. Helmets from the different
manufacturers will fit drivers differently and it's important to select
the helmet that gives you the best fit. Consider these points when selecting a helmet:
- Not too big such that the helmet can be grasped and moved around while on the head. The helmet fit should be snug. New drivers will often make the mistake of selecting a helmet that is too large.
- Not too small where the helmet creates uncomfortable pressure points. While the helmet fit should be snug, pressure should be uniform and not localized in spots where you would get a headache from use.
- Eyeport size - What range of view do you require or prefer?
- Will you be wearing a balaclava? The balaclava takes up space in the helmet, so if you will be racing with one, make sure the helmet fits properly while wearing the balaclava.
